The Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) and its paper “Mushroom Detection and Three Dimensional Pose Estimation from Multi-View Point Clouds” was accepted and published by MDPI Sensors in March 2023.

The publication was authored by George Retsinas, Niki Efthymiou, Dafni Anagnostopoulou and Petros Maragos. Its topic revolved around the SoftGrip research regarding the approach to address the challenges of mushroom segmentation and 3D pose estimation using point cloud data. The ICCS team has developed a method that utilises deep learning techniques and a synthetic dataset of mushroom scenes. By leveraging novel pose embeddings, the aim is to demonstrate the potential of this approach to advance the field.
